Also, he’s right about the MPGs. I had two of these: one got 27, the other got 30/31 all day. So 20-25 is a little low

Hard 1st and R could be low or wrong erl. Bypassing the vacuum advance and some Carb diaphragms? Yeah. That’ll hurt the mileage a lil bit.

I wonder if the stubbornness into first and reverse could just be that the linkages were installed incorrectly when the replacement transmission was installed.
